Paint Varnishes
Fernissa is the final layer of your acrylic or oil painting. It is painted on as a thin, transparent layer to protect and preserve the work. Fernissa can be used to give a glossy or matt finish to the painting, depending on what you are looking for! Did you know that the French word for varnish has given the name vernissage, the opening day of an art exhibition. The word is a playful jab at the fact that artists often work so hard right up to the last minute that the varnish doesn't have time to dry before the exhibition!
