The best kind of paper for dry pastel is a paper with a rough-grained surface, that will make the pastel stick on the paper and stay there. If you are drawing with charcoal, a pastel paper can also be suitable for this technique. Just do not forget to fixate your artwork when you are done, to prevent it from changing when you touch it for example. It can be easier to find a good paper for oil pastel, since that kind of pastel can stick on paper with a smooth surface. Therefore, you can choose a paper with not as much texture as needed when you use dry pastel.
