The name of the pen, Maki-e, refers to the technique of lacquering a surface with detailed images and urushi lacquer. This technique started out as an elegant and beautiful art work when making wedding gifts, and today it is a famous japanese craft.
The cap has a unique “Slip & Seal” mechanism which prevents the ink from drying inside the pen. In combination with the transparent design, even ink flow and comfortable grip this is a pen well worth investing in. The nib is made from 14K gold.
