The oil sticks can be used on a range of prepared surfaces, including canvas, panels, laminated boards and paper. For best results, the paint should be applied in thin layers, no more than approximately 1 mm thick, so that the surface can be built up evenly and in a controlled manner.
Layers can be applied on top of one another in the same way as with traditional oil paint, and the paint can be thinned with petroleum or turpentine if required. Before use, the thin skin that forms on the surface should be removed, as it reforms after a few days without use. The applied paint normally dries within 2 to 5 days, depending on the thickness of the layer, the surface and the surrounding conditions.
Once fully dry, artworks can be varnished in the same way as traditional oil paintings.
The set contains Primary Blue (385), Blue Light (365), Titanium White (116), Neutral Grey (701), Warm Grey (705) and Turquoise Blue (341).
